Of course it's a money grab. And I agree with you about the pre-BCS.

I liked it much better than the BCS and CFP eras. The Rose Bowl was great. There was great fun, tradition and intrigue to New Year's Day.

If they want to have "true champion". Just go back to a legit New Year's Day and maybe play a +1 afterward.
